Once again, perusing through YouTube I found a new topic I wasn’t aware I would be so fascinated by. I can only imagine how frustrating this could be. At 6′ 1″ fluctuating between 275 and 235lbs, I have always have had trouble buying any clothing that fits right in Germany. My shoe size tends to only be available as the only pair in the store or used as the display model.
I am by no means a giant, just a guy who loves to lift, exercise and chow down all with reckless abandon.
When I first moved to Germany roughly 10 years ago I had been doing a lot of sprint type workouts, lifting, overhead movements and lunges. I was fit, but no bodybuilder, still I couldn’t even pull a pair of German pants up past my calves, or buy any shirt smaller than triple XL because the tapered sleeves here are too tight to even fit my forearms through.
Buying a suit? Fuggedaboutit!!! My shoulders have always been too broad for European brands meaning of the few suits I have bought over the years. Which means I have to buy an oversized suit for my shoulders and have the arms and pants tailored in which, despite the tailor’s best efforts nobody can quite get a suit made for a 6’6″ to sit right and look how it should on my 6′ frame.
It’s like putting a square peg in a round hole. …Feasible, just not quite right.
I’m sure if I just buckled down and applied what I know about diet, nutrition, and exercise. Lower my caloric intake while upping my cardio and not lifting as heavy adhere more strictly to what I know about the paleo diet and putting myself in a state of ketosis then I’m sure I would streamline my proportions, but…
At 34 years old I am the way I am and do as I do soo…
That said, I say these very large, tall people have to go through incredible inconveniences on a day to day basis, especially living in Europe where everything is very nice, just a tad too small to be practical for everybody.
A lot of cars here are fairly small meaning when I ride shotgun I tend to get wedged in the seat with the back of my hip pressed into the cushion while my knees go numb from being jammed into the dashboard.
In comparison to these folks, though, I have no comprehension of inconvenience.
Here is a list of videos I found to be the most fascinating so far.
