Nerd Confession 07062015: I Get Excited About Things I Never Knew About Just Seconds Before.

I was surprised to see that we get ads in our postbox for XXXLutz in Würzburg, the massive furniture store is over 110 kilometers away in Nuremberg.

I’ve gotta admit though, when you’re at that dullsville point in your life where one of your next major purchases for the year is a piece of furniture and you’re planning on going to one of the largest cities in Bavaria then, well, (shaking my head in shame) XXXLutz is definitely one of the places I get excited to go.

The place is so awesome I get excited before going every time. The gargantuan furniture store with the big red chair is like a mythical wonderland of possibilities where a couch is larger than any living room I’ve ever seen, massage chairs do things I never knew massage chairs could do, and there are products I need that moments before I never even knew I needed. The kitchen tech alone would complete my life and a bucket list I don’t even know about yet. All of this is on display in a futuristic motif that would impress even The Jetsons.

The place has absolutely every kind of cool German Haushaltstechnik worthy of the word describing it.

It’s the only place I’ve been in my life where I’ve caught myself get excited thinking “Only ten grand for a couch seems fair.” They have air conditioning, a food court (in Germany these things set places apart from the competition) and the staff are polite enough that if you can pretend to not notice the anxious stares of ambitious sales personnel you can get away with a good uninterrupted ten minutes of laying in a 3,000 Euro massage chair.

I love the shop and can’t remember a time I’ve gone in there without thoroughly pleased with myself for buying some home accessory that other home accessory in the same category can’t do. It’s like being in an As Seen on TV infomercial, without the waiting period after you make the purchase.
