Thanksgiving In Wurzburg

We celebrated our second Thanksgiving since moving to Wurzburg.

Thanksgiving Germany
The 4 Kilo (8.8lbs) Turkey & Stuffing

Thanksgiving Roemertopf (Römertopf)
The 8.8 lbs turkey fit in my Römertopf (Roman Pot) which makes everything taste amazing.

Römertopf
I absolutely love cooking in the Römertopf (clay pot cooking).

Ha! What a hot mess. The Roemertopf made the turkey so tender and juicy the thing just kind of slithered apart on the table… Tasted incredible, though.

IKEA Thanksgiving
It’s not an ad for IKEA… I promise. That turkey though!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I slept like a baby after dinner. Didn’t actually way wake up until the next morning. The first thing I noticed was snow on the tree limbs. It’s been a fantastically long fall this year and I was actually a little bit surprised to finally see snow. It  was more like little, tiny, barely perceptible ice crystals making a sparkly mist than any snowflakes, all of which melted the moment it made contact with the ground, but it stuck to the trees so I’ll go ahead and just call it “snow.”

Here is how it looked a little later from my balcony and has pretty much stayed the same all day. Not really the first snow of the year in Lindleinsmühle, Würzburg but it is the first time the white stuff actually stuck to anything this year.

It looked like this for a while, which was nice because for a few days there we had one of the few colorful patches left in the neighborhood. I like watching whenever the lawn gets a manicure. Sometimes they’ll cut the entire beast with a weed wacker. Sometimes one of the Autobot Transformers takes care of business, either way I find it enttaining.

Fantastic!
